TURKISH referee Cuneyt Cakir will take charge of the Republic of Ireland’s crucial Group E clash with Belgium in Bordeaux on Saturday.

The 39-year-old insurance agent from Istanbul will be in the middle at the Stade de Bordeaux as Martin O’Neill’s men seek their first Euro 2016 win against one of the tournament favourites (KO 14:00 BST, live on ITV).

He will be assisted by fellow countrymen Bahattin Duran and Tarik Ongun, as well as additional assistants Huseyin Gocek and Baris Simsek.

France’s Benoit Bastien has been appointed as the fourth official, while compatriot Frederic Cano will be on standby as the reserve assistant.

It is Cakir’s second game of the tournament after he issued two yellow cards in a competent display during Portugal’s 1-1 draw against Iceland in Group F on Tuesday.

The Irish drew 1-1 with Sweden on Monday at the Stade de France, while Belgium lost 2-0 to Italy on the same day.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Russia’s Sergei Karasev will take charge of Iceland against Hungary in Marseille (KO 17:00 BST, live on BBC One).

The 37-year-old has already officiated Romania’s 1-1 draw with Switzerland in Group A on Wednesday, awarding the former a first-half penalty following a shirt pull by Stephan Lichsteiner.

He will be assisted at the Stade Velodrome by his regular linesmen Nikolai Golubev and Tikhon Kalugin, with Sergey Lapochkin and Sergey Ivanov acting as additional assistants.

Aleksei Kulbakov of Belarus will be the fourth official and his fellow countryman Vitali Maliutsin is the reserve assistant.

Both sides could give themselves a great chance of reaching the last 16 after Iceland drew 1-1 with Portugal and Hungary beat Austria 2-0 in their respective opening games.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s final Euro 2016 game between Portugal and Austria will be officiated by Nicola Rizzoli and his Italian team of officials.

The 44-year-old architect from Bologna will oversee the other Group F encounter at the Parc des Princes in the French capital Paris (KO 20:00 BST, live on BBC One).

His second match of the tournament comes after a week-long break since his excellent display in England’s 1-1 draw with Russia in Marseille last Saturday – in which he only booked two players.

The 2014 World Cup Final referee will be assisted by Elenito Di Liberatore and Mauro Tonolini, with fellow Italians Daniele Orsato and Antonio Damato as additional assistants.

Romania’s Alexandru Tudor is the fourth official and compatriot Octavian Sovre will be the reserve assistant.
